The ancient City of Students is a must-see during your time here in Portugal. Through a guided of the University of Coimbra, learn its long history and gather its ancient knowledge. Established in 1290 by King Dinis, it is the oldest in the country and second oldest in the Iberian Peninsula. After lunch you'll get to visit the Old Cathedral, an ancient Monastery (Santa Clara) and the ancient Roman Ruins of Conímbriga. Conímbriga is one of the largest Roman settlements excavated in Portugal, and was classified as a National Monument in 1910.

Wider tour to the spaces that made History in the University of Coimbra.This program includes the visit to the Royal Palace (Great Hall of Acts, Private Examination Room and Arms Room), the Chapel of St. Michael, the Baroque Library (Grand Room, Middle Floor and the Academic Prison) and the College of Jesus, which includes the Physics Laboratory (18th and 19th centuries) and the Natural History Collection (18th century).

The Old Cathedral of Coimbra (Portuguese: Sé Velha de Coimbra) is a Romanesque Roman Catholic building in Portugal. Construction of the Sé Velha began some time after the Battle of Ourique (1139), when Prince Afonso Henriques declared himself King of Portugal and chose Coimbra as capital.[1] The first Count of Coimbra, the Mozarab Sisnando Davides, is buried in the cathedral.

Stop At: Mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Velha

The ruins of the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Velha are located in the city of Coimbra, in Portugal. The monastery was built in the 14th century on the left bank of the Mondego River, but had to be abandoned in the 17th century due to frequent floods.

Stop At: Roman Ruins and Museum of Conimbriga:

Conímbriga is one of the largest Roman settlements excavated in Portugal, and was classified as a National Monument in 1910. Located in the civil parish of Condeixa-a-Velha e Condeixa-a-Nova, in the municipality of Condeixa-a-Nova, it is situated 2 kilometres from the municipal seat and 16 kilometres from Coimbra.
